The Slabin Collection of West Eugene
Wetlands Photographs
In the spring of 2001, Dr. Uladzimir Slabin took approximately 5000 photographs
covering much of the West Eugene Wetlands. The links below provide access
to this collection of pictures.
To take these pictures, Dr. Slabin walked along "paths" through the various
wetlands sites, stopping to take pictures about every 30 feet. From each
"Viewpoint" he took a picture facing in the direction he was
walking, a picture behind him in the opposite direction, and often a third
picture either to the right or to the left of his path. At some Viewpoints
he took additional pictures, especially if there was any wildlife present.
Altogether Dr. Slabin walked along 51 paths through the Wetlands. Rough
locations are described below. The links take you to the first of each
series of pictures. Each series consists of 10 - 200 pictures. There are
additional links from each picture to each of the others in the series.
The pictures are show in a medium size; a larger image is accessed by
clicking the pictures. There is also a link to a page showing thumbnails
of all the pictures in a series on a single web page. These can take several
minutes to download.
