This center contains materials to help teachers create instructional activities to use the Project INTERSECT books with their students.

  • For each book in the INTERSECT Digital Library the following links provide a description of the book and its hypertext features, lesson plans and activities:
Opal Whiteley
Your Genes, Your Choices
Anza's Diary
American History Sourcebook
On the Run
  • In addition to the specific lesson plans provided for each book the Teacher Center will eventually include generalize lessons and instructional ideas that could be use with any book or with combinations of books. At the moment only two items are under development:

Using Plain Digital Text
or
"Now I've downloaded Shakespeare, What's Next?"

and

The Conflict Unit

  • The Teacher Center will have materials to help students learn to use digital books. These resources are still under construction.

  • To assist students with studying these and other digital books, the Teacher Center will contain information and instructional activities for learning a set of "Computer-Based Study Strategies." These are techniques for using computers to study that have been developed in previous projects at the Center for Electronic Studying. More information about these can be found at the CBSS website: http://cbss.uoregon.edu.

  • To assist teachers in evaluating the utility of these and other digital books, the Teacher Center will contain guidelines and procedures for evaluating such materials. These resources are still under construction.

  • To locate other digital books look in the digital libraries and archives, or examine some of the books we have found:
Other Digital Libraries
Other Digital Books
  • A Glossary of hypertext terms is under construction.

  • A Bibliography of books and articles is provided for teachers who want to know more about the theory and practice of using hypertext reading materials.
